Job Description Work Arrangement: Part-Time, Primarily In-OfficeLocation: North York, ON About The Opportunity Our TorontoJobs.ca Recruiting Division client is a well-established accounting practice in North York providing personal and corporate tax and accounting services. Due to continued growth and an upcoming retirement within the team, the firm is seeking an experienced Canadian Tax Manager to join on a part-time basis. This is a hands-on review role for an experienced Canadian tax professional who can immediately contribute by reviewing tax returns and financial statements, providing technical guidance to staff, and helping manage client work. The successful candidate will work closely with the firm's owner and existing tax team, with the role focused primarily on review and technical oversight rather than preparation work. Key Responsibilities Review Canadian personal tax returns (T1) Review Canadian corporate tax returns (T2) Review financial statements and compilation engagements Review tax returns and related work prepared by junior staff Provide technical guidance and support to tax preparers and junior reviewers Respond to technical Canadian tax questions and client-related inquiries Assist with managing workflow and ensuring tax engagements are completed accurately and on time Support the firm's quality control and compliance processes Mentor and support junior accounting and tax staff as required Help reduce partner workload by taking responsibility for technical reviews and tax-related matters Support the continued growth of the firm's Canadian tax practice Team Structure The Successful Candidate Will Work Closely With Firm Owner / Managing Partner Tax preparers Existing review staff Seasonal tax staff during busy periods The position will focus primarily on reviewing work and providing technical guidance rather than completing high volumes of tax preparation. Qualifications Required Strong experience in Canadian taxation Public accounting experience Experience reviewing Canadian personal tax returns (T1) Experience reviewing Canadian corporate tax returns (T2) Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate and personal taxation Experience reviewing financial statements and compilation engagements Strong technical tax knowledge Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to independently review work and identify tax or accounting issues Ability to work with minimal supervision Preferred CPA designation or equivalent experience Previous Tax Manager, Tax Reviewer, or senior-level public accounting experience Experience supervising, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to junior staff Experience handling complex Canadian personal and corporate tax matters Familiarity with cloud-based tax and accounting software Technology The Firm Utilizes CCH tax solutions QuickBooks Cloud-based tax preparation software Secure client portal systems Work Environment Part-time opportunity with a stable, established accounting practice Collaborative and supportive office environment Flexible environment for family and personal commitments Free on-site parking Year-round tax and accounting work Opportunity to work closely with the firm's owner and senior team Opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the Canadian tax practice This position is ideal for an experienced Canadian tax professional who enjoys technical review work, mentoring staff, and working directly with a firm's senior leadership, but is looking for a part-time schedule rather than a full-time position. Qualifications Summary CPA designation would be an asset. Candidates should have strong public accounting experience with a particular focus on reviewing Canadian personal and corporate tax returns.
