Role Description The Catering Assistant role is a part-time, on-site position based in Yellowknife, NT. The Catering Assistant supports day-to-day catering operations, including food preparation, platter assembly, and setup for meetings, events, and special occasions. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and organized workspace, following food safety and hygiene standards, and assisting with packing, delivery, and on-site service as needed. The role also involves communicating with team members, supporting customized menus, and ensuring that each event meets Oak & Olive’s standards for presentation and quality. The Catering Assistant may be scheduled for evenings, weekends, and peak event periods depending on business needs. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in food preparation and basic kitchen operations. Strong understanding of hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness standards. Customer service skills with a focus on professionalism and client satisfaction. Clear and respectful communication skills for working with clients and team members. Experience in food service or catering environments. Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently during busy periods. Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry catering supplies as required. Food safety certification or willingness to obtain one is an asset. Interest in presentation, event hospitality, and delivering elevated food experiences.
