Position Summary Under the direction of the Working Facility Supervisor, the casual Facility Utility Workers will perform various event setup/take-down, janitorial, housekeeping, and operations tasks. This role pays an hourly rate of $23.48 CAD (per CBA). Benefits As Per The Union Agreement. This position will remain open until December 18, 2026. About The Venue The Vancouver Island Conference Centre is the largest meeting space for event planners in the region. This multiple award-winning building has 38,000 sq ft of flexible event space, all within walking distance to nearby hotels, restaurants, boutiques, museums & art galleries. Responsibilities Perform tasks to keep the facility, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment in good shape. Set up and tear down of facility equipment for events, ensuring compliance with event work orders and event needs. Work from general instructions and specifications, with minimal supervision. Ensure that the building’s cleanliness, interior and exterior, and day-to-day janitorial needs are met and maintained. Operate floor scrubbers, janitorial, and other equipment as required in the performance of their duties. May be required to operate a forklift/high lift if certified. Assist other operational departments under their guidance as required in the repair and maintenance of the building and its equipment or performance of their duties. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work—staff, contractors, and facility users. Work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities. Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended work days and extended numbers of days Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience in working at a multi-use facility. High school diploma or equivalent GED. Possession of or the ability to obtain a current CPR certificate. Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license. Knowledge of customer services practices. Forklift certification is preferred. Strengthened by our Differences. Requirements
