COORDINATOR, CLAIMS & DAMAGE PREVENTION - UTILITY OPERATIONS Full-Time | Onsite | London, ON POSITION SUMMARY The Coordinator, Claims & Damage Prevention is responsible for managing damage and loss claims related to underground utility infrastructure. This role leads investigations, negotiates resolutions, and collaborates with stakeholders to support public safety, regulatory compliance, and the protection of utility assets. Ideal Candidate You are an analytical and relationship-oriented professional with experience investigating incidents, managing claims, or working within utility, insurance, infrastructure, or construction environments. You excel at balancing customer service, negotiation, risk management, and attention to detail. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES * Manage locate-related losses and damage claims from intake through negotiation and closure. * Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and substantiate all aspects of loss events. * Negotiate settlements using contractual obligations, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and field investigation data. * Prepare Damage Investigation Reports, insurance documentation, incident flash reports, and claim defenses. * Identify damage trends and recommend preventative actions to reduce future incidents. * Maintain complete and accurate claim records in accordance with GTel standards. * Liaise with Ontario One Call, TSSA, Ministry of Labour, insurers, legal counsel, municipalities, contractors, and utility owners. * Ensure compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and conflict-of-interest requirements. LEADERSHIP & CORE COMPETENCIES * Relationship Building * Negotiation & Influencing * Investigative Thinking * Customer Focus * Sound Judgment * Accountability * Attention to Detail REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills * Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. * Experience investigating incidents, assessing liability, and resolving claims-related matters. * Working knowledge of utility locate practices, underground infrastructure, and construction activities. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word. * Ability to present findings and recommendations to senior leadership. ASSETS * Experience in insurance claims or claims adjusting. * Knowledge of Ontario One Call legislation and damage prevention processes. * GIS and utility mapping experience. * Experience with Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate. * Experience in utility operations, infrastructure management, construction, or municipal services. EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION * Post-secondary education in a related discipline. * 3-5 years of relevant claims, insurance, utility, infrastructure, construction, or risk management experience is preferred.
