Call for Applicants notice The OKIB Holdings GP Ltd. (OKIB Holdings) oversees the Okanagan Indian Band’s business activities with a mandate to actively pursue economic development activity on reserve and within OKIB territory. Skills OKIB Holdings is presently involved in forestry, land development, utilities and numerous other ventures. OKIB Holdings is seeking 1 independent board member to join the Board. Their main function will be to bring relevant expertise that will help OKIB Holdings to prosper and grow. Background and skills sought include: Senior management and business experience Corporate board experience Emotional maturity and stability Finance, accounting or legal background Economic development, business development, governance and financial management experience within an Indigenous/corporation relations environment especially land development, real estate development and/or construction Understanding/appreciation of First Nations culture Good communication skills between the Band and the OKIB Group of Companies Time commitment is 10 hours a month. This includes attending one monthly board meeting near Vernon or by video conference and replying to emails. Travel and honoraria will be provided. Requirements
Candidates should have senior management, corporate board, and financial or legal experience, specifically within Indigenous corporation relations. Expertise in land development, real estate, or construction and an appreciation of First Nations culture are required.
