What We Offer Opportunity to work on large-scale cloud transformation projects Exposure to enterprise Azure architectures Collaborative consulting environment Competitive compensation Flexible hybrid work environment About The Opportunity Opticca Consulting is seeking a highly experienced Senior OpenStack Engineer to design, deploy, integrate, and support highly available private-cloud infrastructure. The role combines strong Linux administration with deep knowledge of compute, networking, storage, automation, and cloud operations. The successful candidate will be expected to own complex technical work from discovery and design through implementation, stabilization, documentation, and operational handover. You can expect to Design scalable and highly available OpenStack architectures for control, compute, network, storage, API, database, and messaging services. Deploy, configure, upgrade, patch, and operate OpenStack using the organization’s selected lifecycle and automation framework. Administer and troubleshoot core services such as Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, Cinder, Swift, Horizon, Placement, Heat, and supporting services. Engineer tenant and provider networks, VLAN/VXLAN overlays, routing, security groups, floating IPs, load balancing, high availability, and north-south connectivity. Integrate Ceph and enterprise storage platforms; manage capacity, performance, resiliency, backup, recovery, and failure scenarios. Operate KVM/libvirt-based compute, host aggregates, availability zones, flavors, images, scheduling, live migration, and hardware acceleration where required. Automate installation, configuration, validation, and day-2 operations using Ansible, Python, shell scripting, APIs, and infrastructure-as-code practices. Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, capacity planning, patch governance, configuration standards, and security hardening. Lead root-cause analysis for complex failures across OpenStack services, Linux hosts, networks, storage, databases, messaging, and API dependencies. Create low-level designs, build guides, operational procedures, upgrade plans, test plans, and as-built documentation; transfer knowledge to operations teams. Must haves Required Qualifications Five or more years of Linux systems or cloud infrastructure experience, including at least three years administering OpenStack in production. Strong knowledge of OpenStack architecture, service dependencies, APIs, identity, multi-tenancy, quotas, scheduling, and high-availability patterns. Advanced Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent Linux administration skills, including systemd, networking, storage, performance, security, and troubleshooting. Hands-on experience with Neutron networking, Open vSwitch or OVN, KVM/libvirt virtualization, and enterprise IP networking. Experience with Ceph or comparable software-defined storage, including performance and failure-domain considerations. Strong automation skills with Ansible and scripting; comfort working with Git, APIs, YAML, JSON, and repeatable deployment pipelines. Ability to lead technical discovery, make defensible design decisions, and document operationally supportable solutions. Professional working proficiency in French; English is required for collaboration with clients, vendors, and technical teams outside Quebec. ‍ Preferred Assets Red Hat Certified System Administrator/Engineer or OpenStack-related certification. Experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform, OpenStack Services on OpenShift, Kolla-Ansible, or another enterprise deployment framework. Experience with Ironic bare-metal provisioning, Octavia, Barbican, Manila, telemetry, or multi-region architectures. Experience delivering private-cloud migrations, upgrades, or platform remediation in regulated environments. ‍ Education and Certification College diploma or university degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Applicable Red Hat and industry certifications are valued but do not replace demonstrated hands-on capability.
