Job details
Senior Director of Finance Markham, Ontario Our client is a successful, privately held Canadian company with a well-established business and an entrepreneurial, growth-oriented culture. They are looking for a Senior Director of Finance to join their leadership team and take on a broad, highly visible mandate. This is not a traditional accounting-focused finance role. While ensuring strong financial discipline remains important, the real opportunity is to become a strategic and commercial partner to the business — helping leadership better understand performance, identify opportunities and make stronger, data-driven decisions. The Opportunity Reporting to the President, the Senior Director of Finance will lead the finance function while spending significant time working across the organization. The mandate will include: Leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis Providing meaningful insight into revenue, margins, pricing, costs and profitability Developing and enhancing KPIs and management reporting Partnering with operational and commercial leaders to support better decision-making Evaluating business cases, capital investments and growth opportunities Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and overall efficiency Leveraging technology, automation and AI to improve the way financial information is produced and used Ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and maintaining appropriate financial controls Leading, developing and mentoring the finance team Acting as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership The Ideal Candidate You are a CPA with progressive finance leadership experience and a strong understanding of a manufacturing or similarly operational business. You bring strong technical fundamentals, but your real strength is your ability to connect the numbers to the business. You are curious, analytical and commercially minded, and you naturally dig beneath financial results to understand what is driving them. You are equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting into the details as you are sitting with senior leaders and helping shape a decision. Experience working within a privately held, entrepreneurial or mid-sized organization would be particularly valuable. Why Consider This Opportunity? This is an opportunity to join a successful organization where Finance has a meaningful seat at the table. You’ll have the ability to influence how the business operates, improve the tools and information used to make decisions, and help shape the continued evolution of the finance function. For someone who enjoys building, improving and influencing — rather than simply maintaining — there is a lot to sink your teeth into here. Work Model: Predominantly onsite
