About the Role OSCO Construction Group is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor (Contract) to provide strong, visible safety leadership on a large‑scale industrial construction project in Saint John, New Brunswick. This position plays a critical role in supporting frontline supervision, tradespeople, and project leadership to ensure work is performed safely, compliantly, and efficiently. The successful candidate will be hands‑on and who can engage crews, identify risk before incidents occur, and reinforce safe work practices in a high‑hazard, construction environment. Key Responsibilities * Provide active, on‑site safety leadership and support to project management, supervision, and trades * Deliver comprehensive safety orientations and coordinate mandatory site training * Conduct daily site inspections to proactively identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and at‑risk behaviours * Support and review Hazard Assessments and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) with supervisors and crews * Complete scheduled Health & Safety audits and track corrective actions to completion * Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; complete timely, thorough, and accurate reports * Organize and facilitate toolbox talks and safety meetings that are relevant and engaging for crews * Participate in and support Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings and initiatives * Monitor compliance with provincial legislation, client requirements, and OSCO Construction Group safety standards * Act as a trusted safety resource on site, providing practical guidance and solutions Qualifications & Experience * Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial and/or unionized construction environment * Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements * Demonstrated experience working effectively with union trades and site supervision * Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage workers at all levels * Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accurate documentation * Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) * Professional safety designation (CSS, CSO, NCSO, CRSP, CRST) considered a strong asset About OSCO Construction Group The origins of the OSCO Construction Group go back to 1955 when Ocean Steel & Construction Ltd. was founded in Saint John, New Brunswick.
