Senior Mechanical Design Engineer We’re searching for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Concord, Canada. This team focuses specifically on packaging, converting, and finishing equipment — machinery that performs printing, labeling, inspection, bank encoding, and end-of-line packaging. In this role, you'll lead the conceptual design of custom automation systems, working alongside senior designers and cross-functional electrical, programming, vision, and motion-control teams to take machinery from concept through delivery on aggressive project timelines. Responsibilities Lead the customized portions of machine design — generally the “mad scientist,” first-of-a-kind problem-solving work — while standard modules and components handle the rest Develop and detail designs using SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D), applying GD&T principles throughout Build and maintain bills of materials for both standard and custom-designed machine content Work within SolidWorks PDM, leveraging the team's library of standard modules alongside custom-designed elements Collaborate closely with electrical, programming, vision, motion control, and application engineering teams to support the equipment's PC-based, IP/Ethernet control architecture Support fast-moving project timelines, from initial concept design through detailed design, integration, and final installation Partner with field service and commissioning teams, incorporating feedback from onsite installation and troubleshooting to improve design and serviceability Lead the conceptual design and development of custom high-speed automation systems built for speed, precision, and performance Drive pure innovation and automation using advanced technologies Work on cutting-edge engineering projects that truly challenge and excite you Qualifications5+ years of mechanical design experience in high-speed automation or custom machine building Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline Strong understanding of servo systems, pneumatics, mechanical motion systems, GD&T, manufacturing and machining practices Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and experience with PDM/document control systems Strong problem-solving mindset with a passion for innovation and technology Comfortable working across both 3D and 2D CAD, including AutoCAD Experience creating and maintaining bills of materials Mechanical design experience involving moving machinery Strong knowledge of conveyors, gear ratios, and power transmission, in addition to servos and pneumatics Background in complex automation equipment design, rather than primarily automotive, mold-making, structural, or sheet metal design Able to ramp up quickly and take ownership of designs against firm customer deadlines Comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Must be legally authorized to work in Canada Preferred QualificationsPrior experience designing packaging, converting, or finishing equipment (printing, labeling, inspection, bank encoding, or end-of-line packaging systems) Experience with PC-based control architectures using IP/Ethernet communication, rather than traditional PLC-based controls Experience mentoring or pairing with intermediate-level designers Comfortable providing remote engineering support to field service and commissioning teams Type: Fulltime Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm Location: Concord, ON, Canada (on-site) Pay Rate Range: $140,000–$180,000/yr (DOE) CAD
