Pavonis Diagnostics is developing VICA (Visual Interference Color Assay), a disruptive optical biosensing platform that combines binding analysis, assay development and biomolecule capture in one fast, flexible system. Using nanostructured anodized alumina thin films, VICA detects molecular interactions through measurable optical changes and can assess binding in solution or on a surface using minimal sample and reagents. The platform supports screening, specificity testing, conditional binding, matrix tolerance, pH-dependent interactions, off-rate challenges, isotyping, purification and recovery of biomolecules. VICA can generate preliminary results in about one hour, support multiplexed testing and operate without the cost and complexity of traditional SPR, BLI or spectrophotometric instruments. It is designed for biotechnology companies, antibody and peptide developers, academic laboratories, CROs, diagnostics developers, veterinary health companies and computational protein-design teams that need experimental feedback. Pavonis is initially offering VICA through development and testing services, followed by device and assay-kit offerings. Potential markets include antibody discovery, peptide engineering, biosimilar characterization, biomarker testing, infectious disease, oncology, therapeutic monitoring, agriculture and animal health.
