Catholic Education Centre, Peterborough 40 h/w (12 m/y) Duration: Approximately 6 weeks or upon the early return of the employee being replaced. Job Function Perform carpentry and general maintenance duties. Job Description Perform the following duties: Construct, erect, install and repair walls, ceilings, flooring, portables, playground equipment, shelving, etc. Prepare surfaces and apply finishes to shelving, cabinets, etc. Carry out general maintenance duties. Estimate, requisition and/or purchase materials and equipment. Calculate elevations by use of transit. Maintain equipment and machinery. Maintain records and prepare reports as required. May be required to do custodial duties on a temporary basis. Operate a motor vehicle. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: 1. OSSD plus General Carpenter’s Certificate of Qualification. Knowledge of general building maintenance, provincial construction standards and pertinent government regulations. Working from ladders and scaffolds and in confined areas. Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings. Valid driver’s license. Using a variety of power and hand tools and machines. Communicating effectively and working co-operatively with Board personnel, suppliers and the general public. PVNCCDSB is committed to achieving excellence in Catholic education. Candidates must be able to interpret blueprints, work at heights and in confined spaces, use power and hand tools, communicate effectively, and hold a valid driver’s license.
