The cook is able to multitask, work quickly and efficiently while maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness. Key Responsibilities Prepare food according to menu and portion standards in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff Ensure food is prepared to quality and presentation standards consistently and served in a timely manner Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen area Follow health and safety guidelines and food handling procedures Handle multiple food orders simultaneously during busy hours Store food properly and ensure freshness and proper rotation (FIFO) - First In, First Out order by labelling food items with the dates and put the older foods in front or on top so that you use them first. Organize transfer food/beverage from/to different locations/lounges. Maintain good personal hygiene while preparing food and ensure that kitchen and storage areas are always clean, well-maintained, and safe, in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards (MAPAQ). Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times during the shift and follow all health and safety regulations. Control daily food portions according to company standard to prevent and reduce food waste. Maintain inventory stocking and records of food and supplies to order. Unload and store deliveries of food items. Make adjustments to food items to accommodate guests with allergies or specific dietary concerns wherever possible. To maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, remove/ discard trash and ensure work areas are cleaned and sanitized before shift ends. Wash and clean appliances in the kitchen after every used, such as pots, and pans, mixer, etc. Keep kitchen areas clean and dry at all times. Cleaning and mopping kitchen floors, especially in the event that items are spilled. Other related responsibilities and special or ad hoc projects, as assigned. Qualifications Required Must be Food Safe Level 1 certified. Ability to follow all sanitation procedures. Ability to work in a team environment and take direction. Possess excellent communication skills. Good organizational skills. Self-motivated. Ability to prioritize and problem-solving ability. Able to work with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills with positive attitude. Must be able to multitask and plan ahead. High sense of responsibility and attention to detail. Undertake other jobs assigned by superior from time to time, such as covering duties for colleague during their break time. Able to obtain Transport Canada clearance for security pass (RAIC) to work at the airport. Working Conditions Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Tolerance for working in high-heat environments Must be flexible to work weekdays/weekends and statutory holidays.
