Overview Polk Mechanical is seeking a Sheetmetal Apprentice, based in Dallas, TX, to assist in fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment such as ductwork, plenums, air devices, louvers, and air moving equipment while learning the sheetmetal trade. Responsibilities Assist in setting up and operating fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses Use hand-held power tools, air hammers, and hand tools to assist in assembling ductwork and other sheet metal assemblies Assist with installation of ductwork and sheet metal assemblies according to blueprints and specifications Assist with installation of air moving equipment, such as air handlers, heat pumps, exhaust fans, and unit heaters Assist in inspecting and testing installations for conformance with project requirements Work under supervision to learn proper trade techniques and safety practices Qualifications Prior experience with sheetmetal work in the mechanical/HVAC industry preferred One year of sheetmetal experience in the commercial industry preferred Understanding of basic math Ability to visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings, sketches, or blueprints Willingness to learn and develop skills in the sheetmetal trade EEO Disclaimer Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
