Position Summary The Cook is responsible for the preparation and cooking of all food for patients and residents. The Cook works co-operatively with the Lead Chefs and Assistant Cooks to complete all assigned duties as required. All duties are performed in accordance with the Mission & Values of Providence Healthcare. Major Responsibilities Produce all food requirements by adhering to standard food preparation techniques and records quality assurance information; Adhere to all policies and procedures pertaining to Food Services; Maintain open communication with both Supervisor and co-workers at all times; Attend and participate in production and staff meetings; Adheres to Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Providence Healthcare¿s Health and Safety Policies; Adheres Providence Healthcare¿s Incident Reporting Policy; Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Skills Required 2-3 years cooking experience in a cafeteria or institutional setting; Graduate of an approved and recognized chef¿s, culinary or apprentice¿s Training course; Red Seal designation required; Sound knowledge of institutional and large quantity cooking; Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely; Ability to lift heavy objects; Familiar with standardized recipes and portion control; Strong knowledge of English language with good interpersonal and communication skills. Requirements
Requires 2–3 years of cooking experience in a cafeteria or institutional setting, graduation from an approved culinary or apprenticeship training course, and a Red Seal designation. Candidates must have knowledge of institutional and large-quantity cooking, safe kitchen equipment operation, standardized recipes and portion control, English communication skills, the ability to lift heavy objects, and strong attendance and performance records.
