Department Head, Orthopedics BC Children's Hospital Vancouver, BC BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) is ranked among the top pediatric specialized hospitals in the world. We are the only dedicated pediatric hospital in the province of British Columbia. We care for the province's most acutely ill or injured children and youth, provide developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offer a broad range of health services and specialized programs both locally and via telehealth/outreach. We are a ChildKind certified hospital. The Department of Orthopedics is seeking an accomplished pediatric orthopedic surgeon and leader to advance its clinical, academic, and research missions. Recognized as the provincial referral centre for specialized pediatric orthopedic care, the department provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary services for children and youth with a broad range of orthopedic conditions, including trauma, spinal deformities, hip disorders, cerebral palsy, neuromotor conditions, congenital anomalies, and other complex musculoskeletal disorders. As Department Head, you will be responsible for ensuring the department's clinical, educational, and research objectives are achieved in alignment with the vision, values, and strategic priorities of BC Children's Hospital, PHSA, and UBC. In partnership with the UBC Department of Orthopaedics, you will support the department's academic mission through leadership in education, research, faculty development, trainee mentorship, and scholarly activity. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and working in partnership with the Executive Director(s), Operations, you will share responsibility for the overall leadership and performance of the department's clinical programs. You will lead the planning and delivery of pediatric orthopedic services across the province, support interdisciplinary models of care, and collaborate with medical and operational leaders within BCCH and across British Columbia's health system to improve access, quality, safety, patient outcomes, and the patient and family experience. You will also provide leadership for physician engagement, medical staff development, quality improvement, patient safety, academic advancement, and research excellence within the department. Qualifications Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in British Columbia and hold, or be eligible for, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Orthopedic Surgery, with subspecialty expertise in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery. The Successful Candidate Will Have A demonstrated record of leadership in clinical care, education, research, quality improvement, and/or health-system innovation. At least ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience. Lead the clinical, academic, and research missions of the Department of Orthopedics at BC Children's Hospital. Oversee the planning and delivery of pediatric orthopedic services across the province while collaborating with UBC to advance education and scholarly activity.

Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in BC and hold Royal College certification in Orthopedic Surgery with subspecialty expertise in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in clinical care, education, or research is required.
