To learn more about our Department, please click on the following link: https://beta.novascotia.ca/government/service-nova-scotia-and-internal-services/aboutAbout Our Opportunity Reporting to the Director of Consumer Programs, you are responsible for the oversight of the province's residential tenancies program by directing public information, dispute resolution, policy development and program modernization activities. Responsible for the entire residential tenancies program, which settles disputes between landlords and tenants through a tribunal process. This includes the management of a team of professionals and mentoring/coaching to ensure the priorities and objections of the residential tenancies program are met. Coordinating the department's role in addressing system wide housing issues with other departments.Maintaining expertise and in-depth knowledge of current program areas and utilizing a broad network of collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders.Accountable for the program, policy, and legislative management of the residential tenancies program including mitigating risks by developing and implementing new or revised policies that align with objectives of the Department and overall Government Strategy.Accountable for managing the information management system and any process improvements that need to be supported with the system.Acting as the Department's expert and representative and to provide advice and assistance related to residential tenancies. This includes managing operational aspects of internal and external communications systems with some guidance from leadership.Plans and implements quality frameworks to ensure that service standards are met throughout the residential tenancy dispute process. This includes suggesting and implementing improvements to the current compliance process.Qualifications and Experience To be successful in this position, you hold an undergraduate degree, in addition several years of progressive experience in a related field. A graduate level degree (Master's) would be an asset. You require an understanding of government processes and experience in developing and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships. You also have experience leading teams, and in managing organizational change. Strong communication skills (both oral and written), effective decision-making skills, sound judgment and analytical skills are required to be successful in this position. You will also master subject matter expertise in order to manage program modernization projects and to effectively manage competing priorities and demands. Experience with residential tenancies and the tribunal process would be viewed as an assets. We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.EquivalencyAn equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered.
