Position: Director, Payroll Location: Markham, ON (Hybrid - 3 days onsite) Salary: $150,000 + 15% Bonus Job Type: Permanent Posting Type: Open Vacancy Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a strategic Director, Payroll to lead the delivery, transformation, and continuous improvement of payroll operations across a large, complex organization. This newly created leadership role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who has successfully led payroll functions within a large, multi-site, unionized environment. You'll provide strategic direction while overseeing payroll operations, driving process improvements, and leading a high-performing team through growth and transformation. What You'll Be Doing - Lead the organization's payroll strategy, operations, and governance across multiple provinces. - Oversee complex, full-cycle payroll operations for unionized and non-unionized employees. - Drive payroll transformation, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives. - Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, collective agreements, and internal controls. - Partner with HR, Finance, Operations, and Labour Relations to support business objectives. - Leverage Workday and other technologies to enhance payroll processes, reporting, and operational efficiency. - Monitor payroll metrics and KPIs to drive performance and improve service delivery. - Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing payroll team while fostering a collaborative and service-focused culture. What We're Looking For - 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership responsibilities. - Proven experience leading payroll operations within a large, complex, multi-site organization. - Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, compliance, and payroll governance. - Experience supporting unionized environments and understanding the impact of collective bargaining agreements on payroll. - Experience leading payroll transformation, process improvement, and change management initiatives. - Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. - Experience with Workday Payroll is considered a strong asset. - PCP or PLP designation is considered an asset.
