FISHERIES MANAGER Full-Time | Management Location: Quatsino First Nation Quatsino First Nation is seeking an experienced Fisheries Manager to lead the stewardship and management of fisheries and marine resources within our traditional territory. This role offers an opportunity to apply your professional expertise in a setting where fisheries are deeply connected to community, culture, and the health of our marine environment. Working alongside Chief and Council, community members, Guardians, government partners, and industry, you'll help support the sustainable management of our waters while contributing to Quatsino First Nation's long-term vision for stewardship and self-determination. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Every day is different, but your work will include: * Leading Quatsino's fisheries and marine stewardship programs. * Supporting community harvests and fisheries initiatives. * Working with Elders, Guardians, leadership, government, and industry partners. * Managing funding agreements, budgets, and projects. * Providing advice to leadership on fisheries and marine issues. * Supervising and supporting a small team. * Helping build a healthy future for Quatsino's waters and community. WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO... * Cares about protecting the waters and marine resources. * Enjoys working with people and building strong relationships. * Can think strategically while also getting things done. * Is comfortable making decisions and solving problems. * Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team. * Respects Indigenous knowledge and values and enjoys learning from community. ---------------------------------------- QUALIFICATIONS You don't need to meet every qualification to apply, but we're hoping you have: * A degree in Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Fisheries, or a related field. * Three to five years of experience in fisheries or natural resource management. * Experience managing projects, budgets, or government funding. * Strong writing and organizational skills. * Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. * A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence. * SVOP and Marine First Aid (or the willingness to obtain them). * Experience working with First Nations or Indigenous communities. These would be an asset: * GIS experience. * Grant writing experience. * A Master's degree. ---------------------------------------- WHY JOIN US?
