English Teacher – ReadingGate Coquitlam Austin ReadingGate Coquitlam Austin is seeking a passionate and dedicated English teacher to instruct students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in both one-on-one and group settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the English language and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves guiding students of various ages and skill levels in developing their reading, writing, and communication skills while encouraging critical thinking and creativity. Responsibilities: Deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards (Many teaching materials are pre-prepared!) Teach grammar, literature, writing, and reading comprehension Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and projects Provide constructive feedback to support student learning and development Maintain accurate records of attendance and academic performance Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and collaboration Lead novel studies, including Shakespearean works Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning Communicate regularly with the Director regarding student progress and classroom activities Assist students with essay writing and editing to strengthen their written communication skills Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or currently in the 4th year of university) in English, Education, or a related field English majors in their 3rd year of university are also eligible to apply Strong knowledge of English language arts curriculum and instructional strategies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to engage students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles Effective classroom management techniques Proficiency in using educational technology for instruction Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required Must be legally eligible to work in Canada Job Details: Position Type: Part-time, Casual, On-Call Hourly Wage: $21.00 – $26.00 Schedule: Weekday after-school/evening shifts Location: In-person at our Coquitlam, BC academy (Reliable commute or relocation required); Zoom sessions may be arranged in special cases Application Process: Once you submit your resume, we will review it and individually contact qualified candidates Expected start date: September 1, 2026 We look forward to welcoming dedicated educators to our team!
