Manage preliminary and detailed designs and construction administration for highway projects for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. Lead teams in proposal preparation and supervise technical staff while liaising with clients and contractors.

Our client, an employee-owned engineering and planning company, is seeking a Transportation/Highway Engineer out of their Mississauga office. This is a permanent, full-time, hybrid flexible role, paying $90-120k, along with a competitive vacation and benefits package. This role allows you to use your technical expertise to plan, design, and oversee transportation network projects within a collaborative and dynamic design team. You will coordinate with clients, manage projects, and mentor junior staff while ensuring high-quality deliverables. Responsibilities: Manage the preliminary and detailed designs and oversee the construction administration associated with highway design projects for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. Lead local and regional teams in the preparation and submission of expressions of interest and proposals to source new highway design projects. Supervise other designers and technical support staff engaged in the design of highways. Assisting with the training, mentoring, assessing and recruiting of staff; and Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors and construction supervision staff. Qualifications: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario with a minimum of 8 years of relevant design experience, with focus on MTO projects. Established reputation and professional relationships with MTO and Ontario municipalities. Experience in planning, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction administration of new or rehabilitated divided highways, arterial, and collector roads. Proficiency with Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and drawings (OPSD), TAC and MTO design standards, specifications, policies, Highway Costing System (HiCo), and Contract Preparation System (CPS). Experience meeting requirements for MTO RAQS registration as Key Personnel is an asset. Independent, organized, and motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects.
