Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Outdoors. Tasks: Install ventilation, air handling and air conditioning systems. Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements. Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Provide customer service. Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices. Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification. Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certificate. Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Rooftop (self-contained). Heat pump. Humidification and de-humidification system. Ventilation. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads.
