The Position RMS is looking for an experienced and dependable Roofer to join our team in the Greater Ottawa Area. This is primarily a commercial, industrial, and institutional roofing position involving roof inspections, leak investigation, preventative maintenance, repairs, waterproofing, and installation of roofing components and systems. Daily responsibilities may include: Inspecting existing roofing systems and identifying deficiencies. Investigating and diagnosing roof leaks and water-entry issues. Completing roof repairs and preventative maintenance. Installing and repairing membrane roofing systems. Installing insulation, vapour barriers, air barriers, flashings, and related roofing components. Completing waterproofing and sealant work. Performing minor carpentry involving roof decking, framing, fascia, blocking, curbs, and structural components. Safely using ladders, fall-protection equipment, scaffolding, lifts, tools, and roofing equipment. Taking measurements and calculating required materials. Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and scopes of work. Documenting completed work, deficiencies, and site conditions. Taking clear before, during, and after photographs of work performed. Communicating with supervisors and site leads regarding job progress, unexpected conditions, and additional work that may be required. Keeping company vehicles, tools, equipment, and jobsites clean and organized. Working efficiently with the crew to complete jobs safely and on schedule. Following RMS safety procedures and applicable health and safety regulations. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: Previous commercial or industrial roofing experience. Experience with flat and low-slope roofing systems. Knowledge of roofing repair and preventative maintenance techniques. Experience with systems such as Modified Bitumen, TPO, PVC, EPDM, BUR, and other membrane roofing systems is an asset. Experience with waterproofing methods and materials. Knowledge of insulation, vapour barriers, air barriers, flashings, and common roofing components. Carpentry experience involving decking, framing, blocking, curbs, fascia, or related building components is an asset. Ability to identify roofing deficiencies and assist with leak investigation. Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work. Basic math and measurement skills. Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently when required while also working effectively as part of a crew. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability and willingness to work safely at heights. Knowledge and proper use of fall protection and other required safety equipment. Driver's Licence A valid driver's licence is mandatory for this position. Applicants must be able to reliably travel to jobsites throughout the Greater Ottawa Area and surrounding regions as required.
