About the Opportunity Our client, a growing game development studio, is seeking an experienced DevOps & Build Engineer to support the development and delivery of multiplayer gaming products. This role will focus on designing and optimizing build pipelines, managing cloud and on-premise infrastructure, and driving automation across development, testing, and deployment workflows. The successful consultant will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure systems that support game development and live operations. This is a 6-month contract opportunity based in New Westminster, BC, requiring full onsite presence. Key Responsibilities Build Pipeline Development & Automation Design, maintain, and optimize build pipelines and automation workflows supporting game development. Improve build performance, reduce deployment times, and streamline content delivery processes. Support automated testing, packaging, and deployment processes. Develop and maintain tools that enhance software delivery and release management. Infrastructure & Cloud Operations Manage, monitor, and maintain cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure. Ensure systems remain secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-effective. Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and implement improvements to increase reliability and performance. Support infrastructure-as-code initiatives and environment standardization. CI/CD & Release Management Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting development, testing, and production environments. Coordinate build and deployment activities across multiple applications and platforms. Establish and improve deployment workflows, release processes, and operational best practices. Support live operations and production deployments as required. Monitoring, Security & Incident Response Enhance monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability capabilities. Strengthen infrastructure and application security practices. Respond to critical incidents and production issues, providing root cause analysis and long-term solutions. Support operational escalations and production troubleshooting when necessary. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work closely with developers, QA teams, producers, and infrastructure stakeholders. Promote DevOps best practices and automation-first approaches. Participate in code reviews and technical discussions. Recommend tools, technologies, and process improvements that improve engineering efficiency and product quality. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Build Engineer, or similar role. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar platforms. Hands-on experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies. Strong Python scripting and automation experience. Working knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, shell scripting, or related automation tools. Experience with source control platforms such as Perforce and/or Git. Experience working with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes. Strong Linux and Windows Server administration experience. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience working within Agile development environments. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting game development, gaming studios, entertainment, VFX, or digital media environments. Experience with Unreal Engine build pipelines and tools such as BuildGraph, Unreal Automation Tool, or UnrealGameSync. Experience supporting live-service products and LiveOps environments. Familiarity with observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.

Requirements
