Distinguished Engineer - Software IDE & AI Assisted DevelopmentCompensation $200,000 - $250,000 The Client Our client is a global technology leader focused on advanced software development tools, AI-driven platforms, and next-generation developer ecosystems. With a strong emphasis on innovation, the organization is investing heavily in building AI-native development environments and intelligent tooling to transform how software is built, tested, and maintained. About the Team The Software IDE Innovation Lab is focused on building next-generation, AI-native Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) to dramatically improve developer productivity and experience. The team is developing a full suite of enterprise-grade intelligent tooling powered by AI/ML/LLMs/NLP, including: AI-assisted software engineering platforms Project-level code generation systems Code migration and translation tools Automated code review and vulnerability detection solutions In parallel, the team is deeply involved in large-scale code model development, including: Data collection, cleansing, and synthesis Model architecture design Model training and optimization What You Will Achieve in This Role Lead the design and innovation of next-generation IDE technologies focused on enhancing developer productivity and experience Drive prototype development and validation of AI-native development tools in open and enterprise environments Contribute to the evolution of software development paradigms across new programming languages and emerging workflows Collaborate across programming languages, compiler technologies, and IDE platforms to deliver integrated, end-to-end developer solutions Help shape a scalable and intelligent developer ecosystem that supports future business and platform growth What You Must Bring to This Role Proven experience designing and delivering at least one commercial-grade IDE product, with recognized industry impact or influence Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in: IDE kernel development IDE plugin architecture and development Deep familiarity with one or more mainstream IDE codebases (e.g., IntelliJ, VS Code, Eclipse, etc.) Strong expertise in core IDE capabilities, such as: Code editors Syntax highlighting Debugging systems Code search Visual programming Strong foundation in: Software engineering principles Program analysis Testing and debugging methodologies Track record of innovation, with publications, patents, or meaningful technical contributions considered a strong asset Only those who are qualified will be contacted This role is open for an existing vacancy.
