Job Summary The Senior Tax Associate ensures compliance with Canadian laws, rules, and regulations by preparing and reviewing various corporate, personal, and trust tax filings and forms. This role involves corresponding with our clients which include both Canadian controlled private corporations (CCPCs) and non-resident corporations carrying on business in Canada. This role works closely with managers and partners to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality tax services to our broad range of clientele. Responsibilities: Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), partnership (T5013), and information returns (T106/T1135) Prepare and review various tax elections and waivers, including Capital Dividend Elections, Non-Resident Employer Certifications, and Regulation 102 and 105 Waivers Assisting with Canadian sales and payroll tax compliance Review tax working papers and supporting documentation Monitor notices of assessment, reassessments, and CRA correspondence Research various tax topics and provide conclusions Assess compliance and accuracy by examining, analyzing, and verifying financial accounts, records, reports, supporting documentation, and related instruments Complete special projects and provide advisory services, such as, but not limited to, tax due diligence, analysis of various income, sales and payroll tax topics, along with treaty analysis, registrations of foreign entities with Canada Revenue Agency and other tax agencies and track progress with clients and related entities Assist with cross-border and non-resident tax matters where applicable Communicate with Canada Revenue Agency Revenue Quebec and other provincial governments on various topics as necessary Coordinate directly with clients to obtain required information Track and communicate progress and findings by providing information in status meetings; identifying discrepancies; preparing final reports Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field Three or more years tax experience Proficiency in use of computers is required for this position CPA in good standing, or working towards CPA Maintain standing through meeting required professional development requirements Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong organizational and analytical skills Able to read, research and understand technical forms, documents and tax returns Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships Strong written and verbal communication skills Nice to Have: Experience with Canadian tax compliance for non-resident corporations
