Job summary
Yard Supervisor – Lumber & Building Materials RONA Sauve’s Home Centre is looking for a dependable, hands-on Yard Supervisor to lead the lumber and building materials yard at our Belle River location. We are an independently owned RONA serving homeowners, contractors, and the Lakeshore community. We’re looking for someone who can lead by example, keep the yard safe and organized, and make sure customers and contractors receive fast, accurate, and friendly service. This is not a desk-based supervisory position. The successful candidate will work alongside the yard team, help customers, operate equipment, solve day-to-day problems, and take ownership of the yard’s overall operation. Key responsibilities • Lead, support, and provide daily direction to the yard team • Assign tasks and follow up to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently • Assist customers and contractors with loading lumber and building materials • Verify orders to ensure customers receive the correct products and quantities • Coordinate the receiving, unloading, staging, and storage of incoming materials • Keep lumber, building materials, and outdoor inventory organized and accessible • Operate forklifts and other yard equipment safely • Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free yard • Monitor inventory and communicate shortages, damage, or discrepancies • Work closely with the sales, delivery, receiving, and management teams • Coach employees, address performance concerns, and help develop a reliable team • Ensure company safety procedures and equipment-use policies are followed What we’re looking for • Previous leadership or supervisory experience • Experience in a lumber yard, building supply business, construction environment, warehouse, or similar operation • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities • Confidence giving direction while also being willing to work alongside the team • Good communication and customer-service skills • Forklift experience and a strong understanding of safe equipment operation • Basic knowledge of lumber and building materials is a strong asset • Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions • Ability to safely perform physical duties, including lifting and moving building materials, with reasonable accommodation where required • Dependable, punctual, and accountable What success looks like in this role A successful Yard Supervisor keeps the yard safe, clean, and organized; the team knows what needs to be done; orders are prepared and loaded accurately; and customers leave feeling that they received helpful, efficient service.
