Accountant Upscale Select-Service Hotel Entry-Level Manager About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Accountant to lead financial operations for a well-established upscale select-service hotel and convention centre in Mississauga, Ontario. This property is part of a globally recognized hospitality portfolio with over 1,000 hotels across 70+ countries, known for a strong workplace culture built on empathy, integrity, respect, and collaboration. Your Role As the Accountant, you will manage all aspects of the property's financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in reporting and decision-making. You'll provide strategic financial guidance directly to the General Manager and property ownership, playing a key role in the hotel's financial health and long-term performance. Key Responsibilities Oversee all property accounting and financial reporting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and forecasts in line with corporate reporting standards Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes by line of business to support operational decisions Ensure full compliance with provincial and federal taxation requirements, including preparation and submission of corporate, HST/sales, and income tax returns Maintain robust internal financial controls across all hotel departments, safeguarding assets and ensuring policy compliance Provide financial insights to ownership, the General Manager, and department heads to optimize operational performance Analyze and control operating costs, identifying opportunities to improve financial efficiency Track debt servicing obligations, including loan repayments, interest schedules, and lender covenant compliance Manage the FF&E reserve in coordination with ownership and property leadership to preserve capital and enhance returns Consolidate property-level financial results with corporate accounts for accurate reporting and alignment with ownership objectives Supervise and develop accounting team members, fostering a culture of learning and excellence Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies as needed Analyze supplier and partner contracts for legal and compliance considerations Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required by ownership and/or the General Manager Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Minimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience in the hospitality industry Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with hotel property management systems (PMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is an asset Demonstrated leadership ability with a collaborative mindset Ability to outline financial strategy, provide strategic insights, and make data-driven recommendations Relational, resilient profile with strong adaptability High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism Ability to work extended hours during financial reporting periods or audits
