SUMMARY: Join the prestigious Royal Canadian Yacht Club (RCYC), a year-round private club operating from our Island and City Clubhouses in Toronto. Our Marine Services team plays a vital role in the on-water experience we deliver to our Members. As an Assistant Rigger, you will support rigging operations and marine tasks including mast stepping, vessel relocation, and rigging maintenance. This seasonal, outdoor position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and enjoys working with boats in a fast-paced environment. WHY JOIN RCYC? RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assist with mast stepping and unstepping operations under supervision. * Support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of rigging systems. * Help relocate Member vessels and assist with launch and haul-out procedures. * Set up and maintain dock systems and bubbler installations. * Troubleshoot basic mast wiring or electrical rigging components. * Secure and maintain rigging tools and equipment. * Keep marine yard and rigging shed clean, organized, and safe. * Communicate respectfully with Members, guests, and teammates. * Adhere to all RCYC safety policies and operational protocols. WHAT YOU BRING? * High school diploma or equivalent. * At least 2 years of relevant marine experience OR strong mechanical aptitude. * Basic knowledge of sailing rigging systems and marine safety. * Proficiency in knot tying and rope handling. * Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) (required). * Harbour Licence and forklift operation (asset). * Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge (asset). * Must be physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs. * Must be able to swim. * Team player with strong communication skills and attention to detail. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Frequent walking, lifting, bending, and climbing. * Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions. * Physically demanding, hands-on role involving manual rigging. * Must be able to swim HOURS OF WORK: * Seasonal full-time (from September to December ) * Shifts may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. * Based at RCYC’s Island Clubhouse (accessible via launch from 150 Cherry St.).
