Job Summary & Requirements The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the organizational philosophy, policies and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, the College of Nurses (CNO), and all relevant legislation. Education: Registered Practical Nursing Diploma or equivalent education to practice at full scope Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario Completion of recognized Medication Administration Course Peri anesthesia course essential Perioperative course an asset Current BCLS Experience: Two years Endoscopy experience in an acute care setting essential Two years’ Operating Room experience an asset Two years Surgical day Care experience an asset Sound knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of profession Experience with instrument processing asset Surgical nursing experience an asset Functions independently within scope of practice Ability and experience demonstrated through positive performance appraisals and work history Must be able to perform all essential duties of position description, which includes the ability to lift and move patients, wear lead aprons, pushing, pulling, bending and stooping Competencies: Sound problem solving, communications (oral and written), conflict resolution and decision making skills Excellent organizational skills Computer literacy in current software applications Demonstrated commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others Demonstrated commitment to the concepts of Continuous Quality Improvement and Patient Care Ability to learn about, from and with other members of the patient care team to foster a strong interprofessional model of care.

Requirements
Requires a Registered Practical Nursing Diploma, CNO registration, and essential experience in Endoscopy and peri-anesthesia. Candidates must be physically capable of performing essential duties such as lifting patients and wearing lead aprons.
