Client: Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement – RQ11529 We are seeking a Senior Automation Developer with strong hands-on experience in test automation, quality assurance, and automated testing frameworks. The ideal candidate will have expertise in UI, API, and performance testing using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, WebDriverIO, Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI, JMeter, and Gatling. The successful candidate will design, develop, and execute automated test scripts, identify opportunities for automation, investigate software defects, and collaborate with QA analysts, software developers, and stakeholders to improve software quality and testing efficiency. Role Snapshot Job Title: RQ11529 – Automation Developer – Senior Client: Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement Work Location: 222 Jarvis Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Work Arrangement: Onsite – 5 Days per Week Estimated Start Date: November 2, 2026 Estimated End Date: October 1, 2027 Business Days: 283.00 Extension: Probable after the initial mandate Hours: 7.25 hours per day Security Level: No Clearance Required Must Have Strong hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks, including: UI Testing: Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or WebDriverIO. API Testing: Postman, REST Assured, or SoapUI. Performance Testing: JMeter or Gatling. Solid understanding of test frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit, and Mocha, and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) tools such as Cucumber and SpecFlow. Ability to analyse manual test cases and identify areas suitable for automation. Nice to Have Prior Ontario Public Service (OPS) or public sector experience. Description Responsibilities Identify opportunities for automation within software processes. Design and execute Quality Assurance (QA) tests using scripts that automatically test functionality. Design and write test automation scripts. Utilize test automation frameworks. Investigate problems in software identified as a result of testing. Work with QA analysts and software developers to find solutions. General Skills Experience identifying opportunities for automation within software processes. Experience designing and executing QA tests using scripts that automatically test functionality. Experience running tests for databases, systems, networks, applications, hardware, and software. Experience identifying and documenting bugs and quality issues in development, service, or business processes. Experience installing applications and databases relevant to automation. Experience collaborating with stakeholders to understand how automation can improve workflows and creating documentation. Experience gathering and documenting requirements from end-users to develop the best automation solutions. A team player with a track record of meeting deadlines, managing competing priorities, and demonstrating client relationship management experience. Experience And Skill Set Requirements Technical Skills — 40% Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#. Experience with version control and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI. Quality Assurance and Testing — 35% Deep knowledge of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and QA methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, and exploratory testing. Experience developing data-driven, keyword-driven, or hybrid automation frameworks. Soft Skills — 20% Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in teams. Demonstrated ability to work with functional and technical teams. Demonstrated ability to participate in a large team and work closely with other individual team members. Proven analytical skills and systematic problem-solving abilities. Strong ability to work under pressure, manage aggressive timelines, and adapt to change.
