Job summary

Job Posting: Financial Controller — SalesAsk Location: Ottawa, ON (hybrid) or remote within Canada Compensation: Competitive base + equity Start Date: Immediate About SalesAsk SalesAsk is a fast‑growing AI platform that helps home‑service companies, remodelers, builders, and contractors level up their sales teams with real‑time coaching and visibility. We combine proven in‑person sales frameworks with AI that tracks conversations, coaches reps automatically, and helps teams close more deals without adding extra workload. Our platform blends human sales execution with AI‑driven insights so companies get a stronger, more consistent sales process and a pipeline they can rely on. We're a ~25‑person team with a US parent company and a Canadian operating subsidiary, and we're preparing for our next stage of growth. We're looking for a full‑time Controller to own our finance function end to end — someone who can close the books cleanly, keep our numbers investor‑grade, and be the person leadership turns to when the question is "what do the numbers say?" If you've closed the books at a SaaS company, enjoy building process from scratch, and want a seat at the table as the company scales — this is the place. What You'll Do As Controller at SalesAsk, you will own accounting, reporting, and financial operations across our US and Canadian entities. Your day‑to‑day includes: Owning the monthly close for both entities, including intercompany and consolidation Managing SaaS revenue recognition and deferred revenue Running A/R, collections, A/P, and payroll in partnership with our external providers Maintaining and improving the cash forecast and runway model Producing monthly management reports and board‑ready financials Reporting SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, cohorts, CAC payback) that reconcile to the books Coordinating US/Canada tax filings, SR&ED claims, and year‑end with outside accountants Supporting investor diligence and fundraising with clean, timely financial data Building the finance processes, controls, and tooling that will scale with us This role is high‑impact — you'll be the first full‑time finance hire and will shape how the company runs its numbers for years to come. What We're Looking For You're a fit if you: Are a CPA (or equivalent) with 5+ years of accounting experience Have closed the books at a SaaS or subscription business and understand ASC 606 / deferred revenue Have worked with cross‑border (US/Canada) structures, or are eager to learn them fast Are hands‑on with QuickBooks or similar, Stripe, and Excel/Google Sheets Can build and maintain a financial model, not just report on one Are comfortable in a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment where you set up the process Communicate numbers clearly to non‑finance leaders Have startup or venture‑backed company experience (preferred but not required) We hire for ownership and judgment — you'll have real autonomy and real accountability. Compensation We offer a competitive compensation package Competitive base salary Equity Health benefits Flexible, remote‑friendly work Why Work at SalesAsk? Fast‑growing company with real advancement opportunities Build the finance function from the ground up and grow with it Direct access to the CEO and COO Clear, measurable expectations A culture built on performance, transparency, and growth You'll see the impact of your work immediately We celebrate wins — big and small
