Job summary
Position Summary The Dispatcher is responsible for supporting the day-to-day coordination and administration of Salit Steel’s transportation and fleet operations. Working closely with the Logistics Supervisor, the Dispatcher helps coordinate outbound and return transportation activities, communicate effectively with drivers and internal departments, maintain accurate transportation records, and support the safe, efficient, and timely movement of materials. The Dispatcher serves as an important point of contact between drivers, Logistics, Sales, Operations, and other internal departments, helping to ensure transportation requirements are clearly communicated, and operational issues are addressed promptly. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day. The Dispatcher must demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and company policies. We are currently recruiting for an open position within our organization. This is a full-time, onsite role based in Niagara Falls (7771 Stanley Ave, Niagara Falls). The standard hours for the Dispatcher are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, however, flexibility in work hours is required to meet operational needs. Position Functions Collaborate with the Logistics Supervisor to plan, review, and adjust transportation schedules and activities daily. Act as a liaison between departments to ensure seamless transportation support and alignment with customer service objectives. Provide support to the dispatch function as required. Assist in executing all daily logistics activities in coordination with the Logistics Supervisor. Communicate and enforce company policies, procedures, and regulations as outlined in the Driver’s Handbook and per Ministry of Transportation (MTO) guidelines. Support and respond to internal and external customer needs, including driver issues, sales inquiries, and service concerns. Review and verify transportation documentation (e.g., Bills of Lading, pre-trip inspections, training documents) for accuracy and compliance. Perform data entry tasks related to fleet and driver documentation. Complete additional duties assigned by the Logistics Supervisor. Working Conditions • 40+ hours per week in a fast-paced office environment. • Continuous computer use required. • Occasional exposure to external weather conditions and loud industrial noise.
