Interpret welding specifications and engineering drawings, determine material requirements, and operate welding equipment to fabricate or repair metal parts and products. Fit and assemble plates and sections into structures, install fabricated components, and inspect welds to ensure they meet required standards.

Responsibilities Tasks Interpret welding process specifications Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products Weld or bolt sections together Lay out reference points and patterns Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures Install fabricated components in final product Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements Determine materials required Experience and specialization Welding techniques MIG Equipment and machinery experience Grinder Cutting torches Area of specialization Structural metal or steel Additional information Work conditions and physical capabilities Attention to detail Own tools/equipment Steel-toed safety boots Welding helmet Personal suitability Efficient interpersonal skills Excellent oral communication Organized Team player Reliability

What you’ll do

Requirements

No degree, certificate, or diploma is required, and prior experience is an asset. The role requires MIG welding knowledge, familiarity with grinders and cutting torches, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively and reliably as part of a team.
