Job summary
Securicare is seeking Patient Watch Security Guards to support our healthcare security operations in North Vancouver within the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring patients who require additional observation to ensure their safety and well-being. This position is critical in preventing falls, self-harm, and other incidents, while working closely with healthcare teams in a dynamic clinical environment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively in a variety of situations. Pay Rate: $22.50 per hour Location: Lion's Gate Hospital, North Vancouver BC Schedule: Duties & Responsibilities Monitor and observe patients on a continuous basis, ensuring their safety and comfort Report any changes in patient behavior or condition to the healthcare team promptly Assist with patient mobility and positioning as needed Communicate effectively with patients to provide reassurance and support Document observations and activities accurately and promptly Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care Respond quickly and appropriately to any emergency situations or patient needs Respond promptly to security incidents, including medical emergencies, disturbances, and safety hazards Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a calm and respectful manner, resolving conflicts and addressing concerns to maintain a peaceful environment Utilize effective de-escalation techniques to manage volatile situations and prevent escalation to violence Document all security-related incidents and observations accurately, completing incident reports and notifying appropriate personnel as necessary Requirements Valid BC Security Workers License (SWL) Valid Basic First Aid certification (OFA 1) Valid Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (MORB) training is an asset Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals in a healthcare setting Previous experience in security, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment Excellent observational and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain composed under pressure Basic computer skills for report writing and incident documentation Ability to complete detailed reports, multi-task, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays Post-secondary education in Police Foundations, Community Justice Services, or Law Enforcement is an asset.
