Additional Benefits Include Approximate hourly wage: $21.79 - $27.12 Comprehensive health, vision, and dental benefits plan, including an Employee and Family Assistance Program Life, travel, and other insurances Access to virtual healthcare 24/7 for FREE through the group health benefit plan RRSP program (5% employer matching) Vacation accrual (begins immediately) and travel insurance Free onsite parking Access to thousands of perks vendors and discounts through our WorkPerks program, including excellent discounts for apparel, restaurants, technology, fitness, travel, and tickets to some of your favorite sports and entertainment events Access to continuing education and training through Shannex’s Centre of Excellence Opportunities to be part of sector innovation and continuous improvement initiatives Recognition and Rewards for service excellence and safety About The Opportunity Assists residents with hygiene and daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, meals, and mobilizing according to the work assignment Assists with resident’s special needs, e.g. eye care, colostomy, and catheter Assists in restorative care e.g. walking, range of motion Provides mealtime assistance when required Provides snacks, morning and afternoon fluid passes and night lunches, while monitoring intake Documents according to facility policy e.g. Daily Resident Care Record, resident progress notes, initiating medication incident reports, servery documentation and audits, incident reports etc Communicates and reports pertinent and relevant information and/or observations to the Supervisor Collaborates with the resident and other members of the interdisciplinary team in the development of individualized Resident Care Plan Assists in the planning and implementation of resident leisure activities daily Assists with light housekeeping duties Performs delegated nursing acts according to company policy and scope of practice Communicates and reports relevant information regarding resident care or safety to Supervisor. Additional duties as assigned/required About You In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring: Completion of Continuing Care Assistant program or equivalency according to the CCA Entry to Practice Policy You are registered in Nova Scotia’s CCA registry as per the Continuing Care Assistants Registry Act For more information on how to become a certified CCA in Nova Scotia: ca/careers/education-options/recognize-prior-learning/ You hold a valid CPR/Frist Aid certification. (required) Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment You can work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends, and holidays Completed Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care course considered an asset Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices Knowledge of principles of personal care including bathing, oral hygiene Ability to utilize technology (i.e. Electronic Health Care Records) A completed Back in Form Lift & Transfer Program is considered an asset Bilingualism in French/English is considered an asset Previous working experience with elderly in long-term care or a senior living environment an asset A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care

Requirements
Applicants must have completed a Continuing Care Assistant program or an accepted equivalent, be registered in Nova Scotia’s CCA registry, and hold valid CPR and First Aid certification. The role requires flexible availability for days, nights, weekends, and holidays; dementia care training, long-term care experience, and lift-and-transfer training are assets.
