Position Overview Under the direction of the Manager of Support Services, the cook/baker ensures the dietary needs of patients, employees, and customers are met on a daily basis. Experience Previous experience working in a hospital setting. Previous experience in a dietary/food service setting. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Grade 12 education or equivalent. Successful completion of a recognized food preparation program. Certification/Licensure/Registration Food Handler’s Certificate. Qualifications And Skills Knowledge of therapeutic diets. Knowledge and/or certification in WHMIS. Physical Requirements Bending and lifting objects up to 50 lbs. Use of sharp tools such as knives and industrial equipment. Long periods of time standing during each shift. Exposure to different chemicals. This Indefinite Term may expire subject to one (1) weeks’ notice. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment. Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, Prairie Crocus Manor, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services. Requirements
Requires Grade 12 education or equivalent, successful completion of a recognized food preparation program, and a Food Handler’s Certificate. Candidates should have hospital and dietary or food-service experience, knowledge of therapeutic diets, and knowledge of or certification in WHMIS; the role also involves physical kitchen work.
