Director of Investment Performance and Reporting - Performance Measurement, Attribution & Reporting Location: Montreal (hybrid working) A specialist investment management firm is looking to appoint a senior professional to take ownership of its investment performance and reporting capability. This position combines technical performance expertise, investment insight and operational leadership. The successful candidate will be expected to understand the numbers, challenge them where necessary and turn complex portfolio results into clear explanations for internal stakeholders and clients. The role will suit someone who has worked closely with investment teams and can connect portfolio outcomes to market conditions, positioning, stock selection, factor exposure and portfolio construction decisions. The Role Take responsibility for the firm’s performance analysis and reporting activities Review portfolio and benchmark results to ensure outputs are accurate and properly understood Analyse the reasons behind portfolio outperformance and underperformance Build clear explanations of investment results for portfolio teams and client-facing colleagues Develop more effective approaches to attribution, portfolio analysis and recurring reporting Improve the control environment surrounding performance data and reporting Resolve discrepancies across systems, data sources and published outputs Introduce stronger documentation, ownership and escalation processes Work closely with investment, research, operations, data, compliance and client teams Lead and support a small team while remaining directly involved in analysis and delivery What We Are Looking For Substantial experience in investment performance, attribution, portfolio analytics or institutional reporting Strong knowledge of return calculation, benchmarks, contribution analysis, attribution, fees, cash flows and portfolio structures The ability to interpret results from an investment perspective Experience communicating performance insights to portfolio managers, senior stakeholders or clients A track record of improving controls, processes and reporting quality Strong analytical judgement and the ability to identify the underlying cause of data or reporting issues Experience managing or mentoring analysts Confidence working with investment systems, data platforms and reporting tools This is an opportunity to shape a key function within a growing investment business and improve how portfolio results are understood, governed and communicated.
