A well-regarded commercial litigation boutique in Vancouver is seeking an experienced LAA to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a litigation professional who knows how a file moves from pleadings to trial, stays ahead of deadlines without being prompted, and enjoys being part of a close-knit team. The successful candidate will support a partner and two associates, and work closely with the wider support team during busy periods. Responsibilities Provide administrative support to three commercial litigation lawyers, balancing competing priorities and deadlines across their files Support litigation files through every stage, applying working knowledge of the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules Prepare, file and serve court documents, including electronic filing through Court Services Online (CSO), and coordinate service, mail and couriers Book chambers applications, including long chambers, registrar's hearings and related appearances Prepare books of authorities, application records, and trial and appeal materials Conduct corporate registry and land title searches Review incoming pleadings, work out the deadlines they trigger, and diarize them proactively Keep an accurate bring-forward system and calendar of limitation dates, court dates and key deadlines Open, organize, maintain and close electronic files Manage the billing cycle, including reviewing WIP, preparing pre-bills and draft accounts, and finalizing invoices Liaise with outside vendors to arrange out-of-town hearings and trials, staff events, and client and colleague gifts Help other lawyers and support staff meet deadlines as a team when needed Share general office duties with the rest of the admin team Qualifications Minimum 2+ years of civil litigation experience; corporate/commercial litigation experience is strongly preferred Solid understanding of the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules, litigation deadlines and bring-forward systems Hands-on experience with CSO filings, books of authorities, and corporate and land title searches Familiarity with the legal billing process; experience with cloud-based practice management and e-discovery platforms is an asset
