SMS Equipment is growing in Elkford, BC. We're hiring a Heavy Equipment Technician, Journeyperson or 4th Year Apprentice to support mining and construction operations in a remote field environment. If you’re a skilled troubleshooter with a safety-first mindset and the ability to work independently, we want to hear from you. Base Wage: $47.08- $52.31 per hour. Additional premiums apply Location: Elkford, BC. Housing is available. Schedule: 7x7 or 14x14 What You'll Do * Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy mining and construction equipment * Perform overhauls, maintenance, and new equipment builds * Troubleshoot issues using computerized and manual diagnostic tools * Work independently in remote field settings, including adverse weather and confined spaces * Follow safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement in safe work practices * Lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role What You Bring The successful candidate will possess a 4th Year Apprentice or Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification. Other requirements include: * Strong commitment to safety * Experience in repair/maintenance of heavy equipment * Strong written and verbal communication * Some positions may require the ability to travel to meet customer site requirements * Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset * Valid Class 5/G Drivers licence This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
