Job summary
We are seeking a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Remanufacturing team in Acheson, AB . Our Heavy Equipment Technicians in Reman will tackle some of the largest construction and mining equipment components and bring it back to OEM specs. If you have an eye for detail and meticulous work, this is the role for you! Base Wage: $54.02 per hour. Additional premiums apply. Location: Acheson, AB. Schedule: 7x7 What You’ll Do * Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls on heavy equipment components (ex. Wheel Motors, Final Drives, Hydraulics, etc.). * Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required. * Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement. * Interpret work order and technical manuals. * Complete job specific reports and paperwork as needed. * Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety. * Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision. * Job tasks may be physically demanding lifting up to 50 lbs. Confined Space work is required. What You Bring The successful candidate will be a Heavy Equipment Technician, Journeyperson with 1-2 years experience working with mining/construction equipment. Automotive Technicians or Millwrights may also be considered. Other requirements include: * Clear commitment to safety * Clear written and verbal communication * Valid Class 5 drivers license * Some positions may require the ability to travel and meet customer site requirements * Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset * Interprovincial Red Seal is considered an asset This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
