Professional Practice Parkwood Institute Mental Health Care - London, ON Temporary Part Time Salary Range: $20.60 - $20.60 /hour This is a temporary part-time position that is anticipated to extend until March 31, 2027, and subject to the availability of work Through a patient and family-centered approach, the Clinical Extern (nursing) will work under the direct and/or indirect supervision of registered nursing staff, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team as an unregulated care provider, to promote and advocate for wellness while ensuring the delivery of holistic, high quality and safe care to patients. This is an exciting opportunity for nursing students to work in a clinical environment where they can develop their clinical skills and expertise, knowledge, and self-confidence as they prepare to transition into a registered nursing role. A variety of clinical areas have positions available for Clinical Extern (nursing). Reporting to the Professional Practice Partnership Program, the Clinical Extern (nursing) will work part-time hours. The scheduling of these hours will be determined based on organizational needs and may include day/evening/night and weekend shifts. Expected start date: November 2026 Please include in your resume post-secondary school name, program, and year of graduation in your resume. Essential Qualifications Nursing Students enrolled in a College of Nurses of Ontario approved baccalaureate or diploma nursing program Current certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support required Ability to aid with activities of daily living under the supervision of a registered nurse or registered practical nurse Knowledge of a safety culture in a health care setting in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Ability to apply effective body mechanics and lift and transfer skills to meet physical demands Effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills Demonstrated flexibility and organizational skills Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and the ability to work as part of a team Teaching and Research St Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. As an employee of St Joseph's, you may be expected to engage in roles related to teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties Immunization Requirements Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza. Requirements
