Position Summary This position is responsible for performing daily inbound and outbound shipping functions, creating accurate shipping documents, and maintaining records of all products shipped and received. Responsibilities Work in compliance with all company rules and regulations. Manages and schedules incoming/outgoing freight as required. This includes couriers, contractor’s parts/supplies deliveries, etc. Verifies inbound and outbound shipments to facilitate accurate inventory and bill of lading Creates shipments and routes freight to customer destinations. Coordinates with various mobile equipment operators when freight arrives at destination Records shipments in appropriate database; generating all required paperwork for shipments (bill of lading, customs papers,freight charges, etc.) Forwards paperwork as necessary to all appropriate individuals, internal and external. Prepares shipments for inventory transfer to other Stella-Jones facilities. Daily railcar number verification, as required. Verifies outbound freight against bill of lading in conjunction with plant personnel. Manages CAN/US Interco shipments Audits freight invoices and dispute as required Enter freight accruals Monitors railcar pipeline Tracks detention and demurrage changes Assigns carriers to shipments and monitors carrier performance Collaborates with transportation team to optimize efficiency Monitors the order file to maintain onetime shipments Communicates with internal and external customers to organize shipments as required Communicates (delays/issues) Proactively provides updates to sales staff and customers regarding any shipment issues or delays Performs the work safely according to applicable codes, standards and to Stella-Jones health and safety program Provides freight rates for current carriers from established rate data to sales staff for the purpose of quoting new business Works with transportation management team to expand carrier base as business needs require Other duties as assigned and required: Ensures inventory to warehouse and inventory transfers are accurate. System management of inventory for various customers. Managing Shipping weekly update reports. Generates daily outbound report to each salesman that has freight heading to customers. After sales support to contracted customers. Safe and responsible operation of company equipment. Coordinates quality control inspections with independent agencies with primary responsibility for compliance to standards specifications. Qualifications High School Diploma. Forklift experience is an asset. Proficiency in English. Minimum 3 year experience in manufacturing settings. Stand/walk for significant periods of time. Be able to lift 50lbs unassisted. Good manual dexterity, hand eye co-ordination. Comfortable completing repetitive tasks. Attention to detail. Excellent trouble-shooting skills. Good understanding of Microsoft office (excel, word, outlook). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Basic math skills. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Read and comprehend instructions, email correspondence, memos & schedules. Work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments.
