Landscape Maintenance Labourer – Winter Employment Opportunity Location: Gatineau, Ottawa West or Ottawa Central Employment Type: Seasonal, with the possibility of continued winter employment Hourly Wage: $20–$24 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Looking for an active, fast-paced outdoor job where every day is different? We are looking for dependable and hardworking individuals to join our landscape maintenance team. Previous landscaping experience is welcome, but it is not required—we provide on-the-job training. What a Typical Day May Include * Following the crew leader’s instructions to complete work safely, on schedule and according to specifications * Mowing lawns, trimming, edging and completing general property maintenance * Planting flowers and maintaining flower beds * Spreading mulch and soil * Removing weeds manually or using approved products * Pruning and trimming hedges * Completing spring and fall property cleanups * Safely operating lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers and other landscaping equipment * Loading and unloading tools, equipment and materials * Cleaning and performing basic maintenance on tools and equipment * Keeping vehicles, work areas and job sites clean and organized * Reporting equipment problems, property damage or other concerns to the crew leader * Working collaboratively with the crew to complete daily assignments What We’re Looking For * No previous experience required—training will be provided * Physically fit and able to perform demanding outdoor work * Comfortable working outside in different weather conditions * Reliable, punctual and ready to work as part of a team * Able to follow verbal instructions and read labels, signs and safety information * Able to work independently with limited supervision when required * Committed to using landscaping tools and equipment safely and responsibly * Previous experience in landscaping, farming, tree planting, construction or another physically demanding field is an asset * A valid driver’s licence and good driving record are preferred but not required Winter Snow-Removal Opportunity Employees may have the opportunity to continue working during the winter as part of our snow-removal team. Winter responsibilities may include: * Shovelling snow and applying salt or ice-melting products * Operating snowblowers and other snow-removal equipment * Working as part of a sidewalk or equipment crew * Operating a plow truck, when qualified and authorized * Responding to winter weather events on an on-call basis Training will be provided based on the assigned position. A valid driver’s licence and acceptable driving record are required for positions involving company vehicles or plow trucks. Winter employees receive an additional $2–$8 per hour on top of their regular wage. The premium depends on the assigned position, the candidate’s skills and experience, and the equipment they are qualified to operate. Applicants interested in winter work must be available on an on-call basis during snow and ice events. Winter employment and assigned duties will depend on operational needs and the employee’s suitability for the available position. What’s in It for You?
