Compensation: $1,400–$1,600/week (based on experience) Location: Barrhaven, Ottawa Position Type: Seasonal – Winter Availability: 24/7 during snow events, including days, nights, weekends and holidays About Strathmore Landscape Management * A leader in commercial landscaping and snow removal for over 60 years * A team of 300 employees working year-round across Canada * A company culture built on teamwork, quality and safety Position Summary As a Snow Operations Supervisor, you’ll oversee snow and ice operations at a large commercial property in Barrhaven. You’ll coordinate approximately 10 crew members and equipment operators, monitor weather and site conditions, assign work, inspect completed areas and ensure the property remains safe and accessible throughout every winter event. You’ll report to the Area Manager, communicate with the client when required and have the authority to adjust staffing, equipment and priorities as conditions change. 💪 We’re looking for an experienced snow professional who can lead, motivate and keep a team moving during demanding winter events. Key Responsibilities * Monitor weather forecasts and site conditions * Help determine when crews should be called in * Confirm required staff, equipment, fuel, salt and materials are ready * Conduct pre-shift briefings and assign crews * Coordinate: * Plowing and loader operations * Sidewalk machines and shovelling crews * Salting and ice control * Snow loading and haul-out * Reassign staff and equipment as priorities change * Regularly inspect parking lots, entrances, walkways, fire routes, accessibility areas and other priority zones * Coordinate clearing around parked vehicles * Monitor snow piles, drainage, hydrants and sightlines * Identify deficiencies and arrange corrective work immediately * Monitor employee performance, attendance and safe work practices * Keep crews motivated and productive throughout the event * Communicate regularly with the Area Manager and client * Track salt/de-icer use and inventory * Complete required logs, photographs, inspections and incident reports * Report property damage, equipment damage, injuries, near misses and safety concerns * Respond to staffing shortages, equipment issues and changing weather conditions * Complete a final site inspection before operations are finished What You Need to Be Successful * Minimum 3 years of snow-removal supervisory or site-management experience * Commercial snow-removal experience is mandatory * Strong knowledge of loaders, plows, sidewalk machines, salters and snow-hauling operations * Experience supervising a large commercial, industrial or logistics property is preferred * Strong leadership, communication, organization and decision-making skills * Ability to motivate crews and manage changing priorities * Comfortable working independently and making decisions during severe winter conditions * Proficient in both English and French * Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation required * 24/7 availability during snow events is mandatory * Able to respond on short notice * Comfortable working outdoors and walking the property regularly * Prepared to work extended shifts when required * Good-quality winter boots are mandatory * WHMIS, First Aid/CPR and related safety or equipment certifications are considered assets Compensation & Benefits * $1,400–$1,600 per week, based on experience * Weekly compensation paid throughout the agreed winter season regardless of snowfall activity * High-quality uniforms provided * Opportunity to lead a major commercial snow-removal operation * A respectful workplace focused on teamwork, accountability and safety Strathmore Landscape Management – Excellence, teamwork and sustainable practices since 1963.
