Role: Project / Technical Lead Location: Toronto, ON (Must be eligible to work in Canada and based in Toronto, Ontario.) Studio Paolo Ferrari is a globally recognized, multidisciplinary design practice working across luxury hospitality, residential, and retail environments. Our work is driven by a commitment to design excellence, material exploration, and the creation of immersive spatial experiences for leading international clients. As our global portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking talented Project / Design Architects to join our Toronto studio. You will contribute to ambitious international projects while growing within a highly collaborative and design-driven environment. Role Description The Project / Technical Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON, responsible for leading projects from concept through construction. Day-to-day tasks include developing design concepts, preparing detailed drawings and specifications, coordinating submittals, and overseeing project documentation. The role involves collaborating with internal design teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure design intent is maintained and project milestones are met. The Project Architect will manage schedules, contribute to budgeting and feasibility considerations, and support quality control across all phases of design and delivery. The position also requires staying current on building codes, sustainability practices, and industry standards relevant to hospitality, residential, and product-related projects. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in Architecture, including design development, construction documentation, and coordination on hospitality and residential projects. Proficiency with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools to produce accurate drawings, 3D models, and integrated project documentation. Knowledge of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) principles and sustainable design practices applicable to architectural projects is an asset Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, stakeholder coordination, and risk management. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture and eligibility or licensure as an architect in a relevant jurisdiction. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with capacity to work effectively in a studio environment and interface with clients and consultants. Attention to detail, design sensitivity, and familiarity with Ontario Building Code and local permitting processes. Experience with industry-standard design and documentation software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite) is highly beneficial. Responsibilities include: Owns full project delivery across all phases, balancing design vision, technical execution, timelines, budgets, and client expectations Maintains accountability for project performance, delivery standards, and overall team output Oversees project schedules, staffing, deliverables, and team workload to maintain efficiency, momentum, and quality Provides leadership and oversight on technical coordination, drawing quality, detailing, and material implementation Anticipates project risks, identifies challenges proactively, and implements solutions to maintain project progress Resolves complex design and technical challenges, balancing design intent, constructability, budget, and schedule Builds strong client relationships through responsiveness, leadership, accountability, and strategic communication Contributes to studio standards, workflows, best practices, and process improvements.
