Job Description Length of term: 4 or 8 months (Winter 2027) This role requires Reliability Status Clearance. In addition to a law enforcement inquiry and a credit check, as part of your application, the Government of Canada will ask if you lived or travelled outside of Canada for 6-consecutive months during the last 5 years, and you must account for all activities during this time. Important: Obtaining Reliability Status Clearance within a reasonable amount of time is a condition required to start employment for this role at Sun Life. HYBRID This co-op opportunity is hybrid. If you will be required to work within the province. Remote work outside of the province will not be a possibility. As an IT Project Analyst/Business Systems Analyst Co-op in Sun Life's Corporate IT organization, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, managing, and implementing small systems projects and support of a wide range of larger systems projects in support of Sun Life's business plans and goals. Main Accountabilities (IT Project Analyst) Create drafts of the documents that support project planning Support the project reporting process by setting up and managing project tasks and tracking weekly burn rate against forecast Assists in the collection of data required to meet project reporting requirements Maintain the project schedule Supports project meetings by setting draft agendas and documenting the meeting minutes Analyze instructions and data, and communicates effectively with all team members Provide a good level of support to the project manager by being attentive to detail and ensuring that work is error free Monitor the risk and issue log and follow up with owners to obtain status updates. Alert the project manager when risk and issue follow-ups are overdue. Manage the project directory on behalf of the project manager, ensuring that all current project documentation can be accessed. Ability to apply basic knowledge of the tools that are used to support project monitoring and control (Training will be provided as part of onboarding) Main Accountabilities (Business Systems Analyst) Be proactive by researching/analyzing issues, defining opportunities for process improvements and making recommendations Participate in meetings to explore business needs, analyze findings and organize business requirements in a format that is clear, understandable, audience appropriate Partner with the BSA team and the Development Team to interpret business needs, assist in solution design, and deliver the expected result Take ownership of support/project issues and engage the appropriate resources to reach solution Assist in preparation of test strategies, test plans, test situations and test cases May also be involved in Project Management activities such as assisting with the delivery of projects through one or more of the following stages: initiation, planning, analysis, design, construction, deployment, or post-project review May also be involved in Continuous Improvement activities for internal web site design May also be involved in organizing team building activities, and organizing special events Competencies Strong interpersonal skills. Strong communication skills (active listening, written and verbal). Demonstrates a personal sense of urgency about solving problems and getting work done. Excellent organizational skills.
