As an Environmental and Regulatory Advisor (LDAR – Air Emissions), your primary focus will be the management and continuous improvement of leak detection and repair (LDAR) programs for Suncor’s oil sands facilities. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with federal and provincial air emissions requirements, including requirements related to volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. In addition to the LDAR focus, there will be opportunities to support broader air emissions deliverables, such as emissions inventories, regulatory reporting, stack emissions monitoring, ambient air monitoring, fugitive emissions monitoring, and air dispersion modelling. We also help you save for your future by offering pension programs, and savings plans with company matching Benefits: utilize an employee assistance program and comprehensive company-paid health, dental, and vision benefits for you and your family to support your mental, physical, and financial well-being Generous time-off: enjoy generous paid vacation time and personal time-off to recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance Talent development programs: Internal mobility, succession planning, and employee training and development programs are just a few ways we’re dedicated to your development Minimum Requirements: 6–10 years of relevant work experience, including experience with leak detection and repair (LDAR), air emissions compliance, regulatory reporting, or environmental program management Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, natural sciences, or a related discipline Experience with, or strong familiarity with, LDAR programs, including program planning, execution oversight, data review, quality assurance, and corrective action tracking Familiarity with oil sands facility operations, including how facility configuration, maintenance activities, and operating conditions can influence fugitive emissions Knowledge of federal and provincial air emissions regulatory requirements, including requirements related to volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions Ability to work across multiple internal stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, engineering, measurement, production accounting, regulatory, and environmental teams Exposure to common facility data systems, such as PiVision and LDAR reporting software Experience in any of the following is an asset: emissions inventory, stack emissions monitoring, ambient air monitoring and or dispersion modelling Don’t have all the qualifications listed? Responsibilities: Lead the management of LDAR programs for oil sands facilities, including planning, implementation oversight, compliance tracking, and continuous improvement of program performance Review LDAR and fugitive emissions data to identify compliance risks, data quality issues, emerging trends, and opportunities to reduce VOC emissions Ensure LDAR program execution and reporting aligns with applicable federal and provincial requirements Coordinate with facility personnel, contractors, operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support timely leak repair, documentation, and closure of regulatory actions Provide technical advice and regulatory support for facility emissions reduction projects, LDAR program improvements, facility approval renewals, and amendments Interact with regulators on regulatory issues, program expectations, data quality, and changes to air emissions regulations Support the team on air emissions reports for regulatory and stewardship reporting as required Location and other Key details: This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W. Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs This role requires limited travel to various Suncor locations on an intermittent basis Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will be based on years of experience and scope of work Think we are a fit?
