One-year contract opportunity supporting government IT project delivery within a provincial treasury, banking and cash-management environment. Full-time commitment: 35 hours/week, five days/week. Services primarily performed in Victoria, BC. What & Why: Our provincial government client is seeking an IT Project Manager to support its Finance organization’s Provincial Treasury / Banking and Cash Management Branch. The role requires practical project leadership, structured planning and clear communication with senior managers and stakeholders. You will help establish project scope and controls, coordinate multidisciplinary resources, manage risks and changes, and deliver agreed outcomes. The Level 2 role may lead routine government IM/IT projects or support a Level 1 Project Manager on larger, more complex initiatives. Who: You will work with Ministry management and staff, business representatives, professional employees, technical resources and external contractors. You will need to build agreement among groups with different interests and keep responsibilities, dependencies and delivery expectations clear throughout the project. You: You are an IT project manager who can demonstrate ownership of project plans, budgets, risks and delivery decisions. You are comfortable engaging senior managers, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and preparing the documentation needed to support project approvals. You can explain your personal contribution to feasibility studies, business cases, Treasury Board submissions and project controls, supported by clear examples and outcomes. Critical Experience Requirements: At least three years of Project Manager experience within the last seven years, covering one or more areas such as integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communications, risk or procurement management. IT project experience and practical knowledge of the systems development lifecycle. An undergraduate degree meeting the assignment’s education criteria, or a listed alternative designation: CA, CMC, CMA, CGA or CFA. The IT-related profile specifically references IT, sciences, engineering and related technology fields; please identify your field of study. Effective use of project-management technology, such as Microsoft Project. At least three project examples of eight months or longer, demonstrating stakeholder communication, consensus-building and liaison with Ministry management and staff. At least three years managing multidisciplinary teams and developing feasibility studies, business cases and Treasury Board submissions. Experience preparing charters and master project plans, managing risks and coordinating internal resources and contractors. Experience managing change and budget requests, including costs, schedules, resources, deliverables and dependencies. Successful delivery of medium-complexity projects valued below $5 million, lasting more than six months, with at least five people reporting to you as Project Manager. Nice to Have: PMI Project Management Professional designation. Public-sector project delivery experience. Compensation: Hourly rate is $80-$110 per hour.
