As a Boring Mill Machinist, you'll be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring boring mill equipment while maintaining exceptional standards for quality, accuracy, and efficiency. What You'll Do As a Boring Mill Machinist, you'll play a critical role in producing precision tooling components by setting up and operating horizontal boring mills. You'll ensure every part meets exact specifications while contributing to a safe, efficient, and quality-driven manufacturing environment. Your responsibilities will include: Set up and operate horizontal boring mills to produce precision tooling components Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD designs, specifications, and work instructions Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding equipment Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to optimize performance, accuracy, and efficiency Perform boring, milling, drilling, tapping, and other machining operations as required Work with large and complex components while maintaining tight tolerances Troubleshoot machining issues and communicate tooling or equipment concerns to the appropriate team members Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow customer specifications, quality standards, and lean manufacturing practices What You Bring High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 3-5 years as a Boring Mill Machinist or in a similar precision machining role Experience setting up and operating horizontal boring mills or similar large-scale CNC machining equipment Experience with CNC controls, including Fanuc and Heidenhain, is considered an asset Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, machine setups, and inspection techniques Experience using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other inspection equipment Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment Ability to prioritize work and meet production deadlines Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
