Job details

Circuit Design Expert Position: Circuit Design Expert Type: Contractor Compensation: $80–$130/hour Location: Remote — Global About the Opportunity micro1 is engaging highly skilled Circuit Design Experts to contribute to an AI training project focused on electronic hardware, circuit simulation, programmatic EDA workflows, verification, and Python-based engineering automation. The work involves creating, solving, reviewing, and validating engineering tasks across analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, and RF circuits. A representative task may involve interpreting circuit requirements, producing or modifying a netlist or hardware description, running simulations or verification tools through command-line workflows, analyzing outputs, and determining whether the design satisfies its electrical and functional constraints. This role requires meaningful experience with real circuit designs that have been fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped out. Simulation-only academic experience is not sufficient. Candidates must also have experience using tools that support programmatic, scripting, or command-line workflows. Responsibilities Design, analyze, and validate analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits. Translate electrical requirements into schematics, netlists, models, HDL, constraints, or simulation inputs. Run circuit simulation, synthesis, verification, and related engineering workflows using command-line-accessible tools. Use Python to generate inputs, automate simulations, perform parameter sweeps, control instruments, and analyze engineering results. Evaluate voltage, current, power, gain, bandwidth, impedance, noise, timing, stability, thermal behavior, and other relevant circuit outputs. Perform corner, tolerance, worst-case, transient, frequency-domain, or Monte Carlo analyses where appropriate. Compare simulated behavior with analytical calculations and physical measurements. Diagnose issues involving component selection, parasitics, layout, power integrity, signal integrity, thermal behavior, interfaces, or manufacturing. Review AI-generated circuit solutions and identify incorrect assumptions, invalid configurations, or unsupported conclusions. Develop reproducible reference solutions and automated verification checks. Apply practical engineering judgment when evaluating circuit performance, reliability, and design trade-offs. Required Qualifications MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; or BS in Electrical Engineering plus at least 1–2 years of relevant professional circuit-design experience. Meaningful experience designing analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits. Experience with circuit designs that were fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped out; simulation-only academic experience is not sufficient. Practical proficiency with Python. Experience with at least one EDA, circuit-simulation, PCB, HDL, synthesis, or verification tool supporting CLI, scripting, text-based inputs, or a programmatic API. Strong understanding of circuit behavior, component selection, tolerances, failure modes, and engineering design trade-offs. Experience with hardware bring-up, laboratory validation, design verification, or post-fabrication debugging. Ability to clearly explain circuit behavior, engineering decisions, assumptions, and technical trade-offs. Preferred Qualifications Experience with tools such as ngspice, Xyce, Yosys, Verilator, KiCad scripting, SPICE-compatible simulators, HDL simulators, synthesis tools, or equivalent programmatic EDA software. Experience with Python tools such as PySpice, NumPy, SciPy, pandas, Matplotlib, cocotb, instrument-control libraries, EDA APIs, or internally developed automation tools. Experience performing circuit analysis across multiple domains, including analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF. Experience with PCB design, layout analysis, signal integrity, power integrity, or thermal considerations. Experience with automated circuit verification and simulation workflows. Experience troubleshooting hardware through laboratory measurements and post-fabrication testing. Ability to create reproducible engineering workflows and automated validation checks. Experience reviewing technical or AI-generated circuit designs for correctness and physical validity. Key Areas of Expertise Circuit Design Analog Circuit Design Digital Circuit Design Power Electronics Mixed-Signal Design RF Circuit Design Circuit Simulation Electronic Hardware EDA Workflows SPICE Simulation HDL & Synthesis Design Verification PCB Design & Analysis Hardware Bring-Up Signal Integrity Power Integrity Circuit Testing & Validation Python Automation Engineering Troubleshooting Compensation $80–$130 per hour Contractor engagement Approximately 15 hours per week Fully remote and globally available Flexible schedule—you choose the hours and days you work, including weekends if desired Compensation is output-based, with experts paid per task that meets project specifications. Minimum submission requirements apply, and task completion time may vary depending on experience and workflow. Eligibility Candidates must have relevant academic and/or professional experience in electrical engineering or circuit design. Practical circuit-design experience across analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF domains is required. Experience with circuits that have been fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped out is required. Python proficiency is required. Experience with at least one programmatic or CLI-accessible EDA, simulation, HDL, PCB, synthesis, or verification tool is required. Candidates must be able to analyze circuit behavior and determine whether results are physically and electrically reasonable. Candidates should be available for approximately 15 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Selected experts should be prepared to begin promptly following onboarding. Application Process Submit your application and complete the screening questions. Highlight your circuit-design experience and relevant hardware projects. Detail your experience with analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits. Highlight experience with fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped-out designs. Detail your experience with Python and programmatic/CLI-based EDA workflows. Complete an AI interview of approximately 30 minutes. Complete the hiring manager review. If selected, complete onboarding and begin your first task within 24–48 hours.
